of training for the following associations and government agencies:
The American Board of
Hypnotherapy, one of the world's largest professional hypnotherapy
organizations, was founded in 1982 by Dr. A.M. Krasner. Its original
name was the California Council of Hypnotherapy, reflecting the
primary geographic location of most of the early membership. However,
only two years later, the membership had grown to include professionals
from virtually every state in the U.S., and the name was changed
to the American Board of Hypnotherapy, a more apt description
of the organization.
In the years since 1984, the
ABH has flourished, growing to become an internationally-recognized
and highly-influential group in the hypnotherapy community. The
membership of 4000+ is located in countries throughout the world,
influencing the ever-growing body of knowledge and applications
of this burgeoning field.
Registration
and Certification:
The American Board of Hypnotherapy provides registration and certification
for qualified Hypnotherapists. This means that the individual
is on file with the ABH as having satisfied its qualifications
as a Registered Hypnotherapist and has demonstrated knowledge
and proficiency in the Art and Science of Hypnosis, satisfactory
to the Examining Committee of the Board.
Every applicant for registration and certification as a Hypnotherapist
must submit evidence satisfactory to the Board that he or she
meets the following requirements:
The applicant is a graduate of an
approved school or training course in hypnosis/hypnotherapy, OR
The applicant has successfully maintained a private or group practice
in hypnosis/hypnotherapy for a period of three years, OR
The applicant passes such examination as may be prescribed or
approved by the ABH. Persons registered and certified by the American
Board of Hypnotherapy may use the title "Registered Hypnotherapist"
and/or "Certified Hypnotherapist". Members receive a
registration document and a certification document, both bearing
the number assigned to the member and suitable for framing.
The registration/certification
fee is $75.00 the first year, and $55.00 annually to renew thereafter.
New documents are issued each year upon renewal. Members residing
outside the United States of America must pay by a check drawn
on a United States band or by credit card. There is a $10.00 additional
fee for overseas members to cover to mailing cost of publications.
